Synopsis
Trapped in Arctic ice, an expedition rescues a dying man pursuing a giant across the frozen wastes. His name is Victor Frankenstein. His story begins with a dream of conquering death.
On a November night, a body opens its yellow eyes. Victor flees, abandoning the life he has created. Alone, the nameless creature learns to speak, to read, and to long for kindness. Every attempt to reach another person ends in terror or violence. Then Victor's brother is murdered, and an innocent woman pays for the crime.
High in the Alps, creator and creation meet again. The creature asks for a companion and promises to vanish into the wilderness. Victor agrees, then destroys his unfinished work. Watching from the darkness, the creature makes a promise of his own: he will return on Victor's wedding night.
As vengeance closes around those Victor loves, the pursuit carries both toward the edge of the world. One gave life and fled. The other begged for love. Now neither can let the other go.
