Synopsis

London, a Thursday evening. Dinner is underway when the host stumbles in, filthy, bloodstained, and shaken. A few hours have passed here. He has crossed eight hundred thousand years.

In 802,701, gardens cover the ruins of civilization. The gentle Eloi live among flowers and crumbling palaces. No one seems to work. No one will explain why they fear the dark.

Then his time machine vanishes.

Stranded, the Traveller finds a companion in Weena, whom he saves from drowning. Beneath their paradise, engines throb in hidden tunnels. Pale Morlocks wait for nightfall. The divide between the two peoples conceals a terrible secret.

With matches running low and shadows closing in, he must recover his machine and get Weena to safety. Every step toward home leads deeper into the world humanity has become.

In the darkness beneath the White Sphinx, the way back may already be waiting. So may a trap.
