Synopsis
London, late in the nineteenth century. Gaslight stains the fog; a carriage stops outside 221B Baker Street. Sherlock Holmes lowers his violin. Beside him, Dr. Watson listens as another stranger begins a story that does not quite add up.
A royal photograph threatens a marriage. Red-haired men are paid to copy an encyclopedia. A bridegroom vanishes on his wedding day. Five orange pips arrive with a warning. A wife glimpses her husband in an opium-den window; then he is gone. In the countryside, a son stands accused of murder; a young woman hears the whistle that preceded her sister's death.
A stolen gem in a goose. An engineer's severed thumb. A missing bride, a damaged coronet, a governess hired on unnerving terms. Twelve cases lead through bright drawing rooms and doors best left locked.
Holmes watches a cuff, a footprint, a hesitation. Watson watches the people. Every answer has a human cost, and finding the truth may not mean arriving in time.
